Arts Leadership

We as educators work together – parents, teachers, administrators – to seek out a more perfect education for the next generation. Regardless of where we are in the world, we have the opportunity and obligation to give a better chance at a better life to the next generation. There are students that get don’t ‘it’ right away; there are teachers that struggle; there are parents that are disengaged. As leaders in education, it is up to us to change that narrative. Students that don’t get ‘it’ are not getting the instruction and responsive action that they need from their supporting adults (teachers, parents, administrators); teachers that struggle need support with new tools, collaboration, and mentorship – they need to learn to be active and responsive to their students; parents that are disengaged, need coaching and support to get back on the team – children don’t come with instruction manuals, but there are many qualified and experienced adults ready to give advice, support, and guidance. Education is an ethical action that expects nothing more than the promise to pay it forward. We are learners today and leaders tomorrow.

For my Graduate Work in Arts Leadership, conducted a capstone project: The Theatre Values Project. While the content here is theatre specific, it informs my work in education and leadership. Because of this work, I am strongly motivated by mission based leadership and governance.
